Comrades!
Tuesday, October 31, 2006 0 comments

Ok.. my sweettalk post is causing everybody's blood sugar to raise... which is reminding me of my work... which is no sweet..AT ALL.. haa..!

Sunday had my family cell grp gathering again... Family cell as in real family by blood.. Our testimony started from my grandma (mum's mum) who lived her last yrs full of joy and passion for the Lord. After she passed away, my mother grew closer to god and went back to church. 3 other aunts and uncles were were intially already believers continued to walk with God, and slowly over several months, almost all my mum's siblings, 7 out of 8 of them, and their spouses accepted Christ as well. My uncle Sherman and Seng came up with a family cell grp idea, and so we meet once a month to have worship, pastors sharing (from their church), and individual sharings...

Sunday we also farewelled our uncle seng, who will be rebased in Shanghai in his work for at leat 2 yrs. Er jie who juz came back from vietname decided that we shld all wear her vietnam t-shirt present together.

Hence, we formed the 同志 (comrades) gang! I was supposed to tell billy to wear his tee too but forgot as there were so many other things going on my head too.. den da jie bought him her vietnam hat, so he sort of became the 领长 (leader). haa..

Dan was high that day.. He keep going “我名叫阿丹”。And saluted and shouted 同志 to almost every stranger who walks pass him..

Saturday, October 28, 2006 0 comments

I read somewhere in Bonnie's blog this quote she read somewhere:
"I dreamt of a wedding of elaborate elegance, a church filled with family and friends. I asked him what kind of wedding he wished for. He said one that would make me his wife"

Which is sooooo sweet!!!

I tot abt my dear guy... Which brings about a smile on my face!!

Me: Pretty or not?
Him: Always very pretty.

Me: He(another guy) was just joking about staying with me la...
Him: Arrgh... All these guys just wanna snatch my girl...

Me: Oh, so you are going to wait till after my choir prac ends?
Him: Huh? Not meh?

(He feeds me a slide of his pork chop)
Me: Wah, u really very full liao arh?
Him: I saw u looking so cute, i just automatically feed you.

Ok, that's examples of my idea of sweettalk from him... I dunno if he meant them be sweet-talks, but they are very sweet to me!! Thank you for today!

Hee... No work today, and tmr!!

Went out, shopping, buffet and movie wif billy juz now... Caught The Departed... stupid show, really... I seldom say any movie is bad... Like i would say one movie is bad out of 10 movies i watched, cos even if others think its bad, i wld see some good in it... The Departed is really bad... 1st of all, the language overly vulgar, like i dun see why shld it be so... Some things juz happen and no link after tat, though its a re-make of Infernal Affairs, but the way it was re-made so so bad it's kind of like scary movie, juz anyhow re-make (except tat scary movie's actually's funny)... There no excitement at all, even the soundtracks were not exciting... it's juz BAD...

But wif that movie, we finally finished our eng wah cinemas discounted tickets.. haa... Wah saz, eng wah is really quite lousy sia...

Billy left something very important with me.. HAA... and he doesn't know what he left with me.. HAHAHAAA... very important and precious... my dear, u should think harder man... before its too late!

What Zodiac Sign Should You Be?

I am a Pisces but it say im....
Aries Aries!
It's sooo you!The planets are very complex. Maybe your astrologer will disagree, and maybe a few tendencies will vary, but overall you're an ARIES. You've got a feisty and energetic style coupled with an optimistic outlook. That Aries assertiveness shines through in your independent ways. It's what guarantees you success no matter what you decide to pursue. The only problem is how little time you give yourself to meet your goals. Patience is definitely not an Aries virtue. On the other hand, your open heart and creative mind give you a deep self-confidence. And let's not forget your very sexual and impulsive side. Hidden or not -- it's definitely there. Your fire sign also gives you the ability to ignite the passion of others. Your symbol is a ram, and you're known and respected for your courage.

Crazy monday i had...

Started from home in the morning:
Woke up at like 9.20am, brushed and dressed in 10mins, den found out that my keys were not in its useful place... Suspecting that Dan prob mistakeningly took it as da jie's key and hence took it wif him, i was left wif no keys! Well, rushed for time and no time to think much, i went out without my keys... Caught a cab, realised i got no cash, shit, gotta waste more time at the atm...

In the office:
Paiseh-ly explained to yas and john i overslept... haa... Den happily wanna start on my ppt, to find out that my most hated listings jobs has more to be done AGAIN... :s

After work:
Worked out in the gym for an hr, wah quite shoick, i tot my life was begining again. On the bus (scary bus experience again... ) received a call from da jie, saying tat Dan is locked out with no one at home... and i at only 1 bus stop away and without my keys... ARgghHH..... Dan wasn't at the door when i went to the door, nor was he downstairs or ard the neighbourhood, so i didnt mind him and went for an extreme slow dinner at "121 Reservoir Kopi Point", finished dinner in an hr leh, cldnt drag longer... so sat at coffee shop and watched channel 8 for another hr before da jie finally reached to rescue me (and Dan)...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (belated) TO NICOLE!!!! Yea... juz met up wif my gal friends... Wooo... had a very jolly time!!! Angie failed to show up, she forgot our arrangment for tonite... Hmm.. while i understand its hard for her to cancel her dinner appointment wif her bf's family, but..oh well... Hehh...

After dinner, on my bus ride home.. There was a fight!! Not me fighting this time.. but this one quite scary... 2 group of youngsters, maybe 17-19 yrs old, each grp of abt 3-4 pple, were fighting at the back of the bus.. fight as in exchanging fists wor... the gals were screaming, shrieking actually... the guys were scolding each other loudly... den the silly bus driver, he juz stopped the bus tat's all. he didn't like walk up to warn/persuade/do anything to them. He didn't open the door, didn't chase them out nor did he let the innocent other passengers like myself escape... :s until the 2 fighting grps moved to the door (near where i was standing too), den he opened the door for them to go out and fight..

Thinking of taking leave again.. HAHAHA... hMMMmmmmmm........

I copied the whole thing, cos the thing touched me so much.. Pass it it, pass it on..

    This video:
Team Hoyt is a father (Dick Hoyt) and son (Rick Hoyt, b. 1962) in Massachusetts who compete together in marathons, triathlons, and other athletic endeavors. Rick was disabled at birth by a loss of oxygen to his brain because his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, and he also suffers from cerebral palsy. Dick carries him in a special seat up front as they bike, pulls him in a special boat as they swim, and pushes him in a special wheelchair as they run.

Thanks to his parents, who ignored the advice of doctors that he would be a vegetable, and Tufts University engineers, who recognized that his sense of humor indicated intelligence, at the age of 12, Rick was able to learn how to use a special computer to communicate, using movements from his head. The first words he typed were, "Go Bruins!", and the family learned he was a sports fan. They entered their first race in 1977, a 5 mile benefit run for an injured lacrosse player who was a schoolmate of Rick's.

Dick is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard. Rick earned a college degree from Boston University in special education, and now works at Boston College. They continue to compete in races, and are also motivational speakers.

As of June 2005, Team Hoyt had participated in a total of 911 events, including 206 Triathlons (6 of which were Ironman competitions), 20 Duathlons, and 64 Marathons, including 24 consecutive Boston Marathons. They also biked and ran across the USA in 1992 -- a 3,735 mile journey that took them 45 days.

When asked what one thing Rick wished he could give his father, his reply was "The thing I'd most like is that my dad would sit in the chair and I would push him once."

Timo shared this in his blog, which bala shared during CF camp. It brought him, then me, to 2 passages abt our Heavenly Father's love:

    Luke 11
"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won't give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?

12 Or if he asks for an egg, he won't give him a scorpion, will he?

13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

    1 John 3:1
1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

Juz now on my bus ride home, sat beside a crazy woman.. As in crazy, i don't think she's really mad... Haa... It was the back row seats, and she sat at the far corner, and her bag and NTUC plastic bag took the seat beside her. As i had always been untolerant of non human beings sitting where human beings could have been, i sat down right beside her stuff, and even pushed them towards her a bit! haa.. (billy beside me too la) Den after tat she start mumbling some things... den keep moving her stuff, like making sure im not sitting on them, actually she's juz trying to make me sit away or just stand la... so i turned and told her "im not sitting on ur stuff". Haa... tat spiked her crazy-ness.. she keep on mumbling things, den look at me and say things abt me... say like "you little gal", "xiao mei mei", den something something "interested in me", "jealous of me"... I tell her in her face "sorry lor, auntie"... den she say something somthing "jealous of my age, jealous tat i am older, you xiao mei mei" - after i cal her auntie.. haa... den billy tell me to dun fight her, so ok lor.. i dun wanna put billy in a spot... but i dun wanna let her get her way.. she while she keep on mumbling, i keep on smiling at her.. HAA...

Met Gerald for the 1st time today... The impression is not the same as what i had heard abt him so far... ok lor.. i find him normal ah...

    Chicken POX!
    Thursday, October 05, 2006 0 comments

Da jie's australian fren, Dan, who is here for a while had been staying in our house. Guess wat, he kanna chicken pox sia!! And i juz had shingles....which is caused by the chicken pox virus!! Seems like i had passed the virus to him wor... The doc told me im not contagious unless pple touch my sores, yet he gave me a week of MC to stay away from the crowd... den i went to him for a self initiated follow-up... he say im "not very contagious" and can go back to the office already, and tat i dun need to see him again... den how did Dan get it from me? i didn't touch him, he didn't touch me... i didn't even sit down and talk to him for more than 5 mins... Er jie's theory is tat i happily walk ard the house, sit ard the house... sit on the sofa... must be i leave germs ard and he shuay-ly picked them up...! :s

Whatever, now my selfish concern is tat he dun pass it back to me again... cos according to colleagues Andrew and Mary, shingles will not cure, and they can keep coming back! @@!

Shingles painful one leh.. i dun want.. my sores are still ard, but all dried up liao.. juz tat the cloth havent grow back to become skin again... so for the passed week, everything i walk by pretty clothes in the shopping centres, i cant try them... cos i scared i'll leave germs ard.. now tat i'm almost done, i wanna go shopping again!! so shingles better not come back!!

got my dad to help me buy more shingles medicine this morning.. juz now i asked him where is my medicine, he suddenly juz cant remember.. den i let him search ard the house himself, and i went back to my room to change my clothes, moisturizes, did a couple of things.. when i came out, dad was still looking for the cream!! later i found it on my bed, below some other of my stuff.. and i told him he put it there and he didn't remember... is tat a sign of him being senile?!!

When i was a kid, dad used to say im forgetful, small things also can forget, and he wld look very annoyed at my forgetfulness... (i wld forget, for e.g., where i put my spectacles) Now im rather concerned abt his forgetfulness man... hmm..

    Little red flower
    Wednesday, October 04, 2006 0 comments

Little Red Flower, China film by Director Zhang Yuan, and co-done wif an Italian team. This a very interesting art film. Unlike the out-of-the-world kinda art film, where pple juz catch-no-ball-but-pretend-to-appreciate-it.. HAA.. This movie is very enjoyable. It's engaging and thought provoking, not very direct at what the director is going for, yet easy to understand if think a little deeper...

Storyline goes... 4 yr old Qiang is sent to a kindergarden board sch because there's no one to look after him. The sch has standards for everything - there's a time to play, time to learn, rise the right hand to add more porridge and the left for another bun, there's even a time to shit together as a class! Qiang does not follow such routines and standards, but he starts trying so as to to be rewarded by his teacher, a little red flower (that every other children has except himself), for good performance. The story ends when Qiang is released from his confidment and re-joins his classmates again. His classmates however ignored him and in an effort to catch their, and the teachers', attention, he runs away and kept running until he was outside the sch. He saw a chinese band street performance wif loud gongs and music, suddenly Qiang became very tired and he lay himself down outside the wall of the sch. Inside, the teachers and children are looking for the missing Qiang and call out his name.

    And here's my thoughts:

The movie is acted by children as you can tell, and it's amazing how natural and good these children can act!! But Zhang Yuan uses children for a purpose. It seems to me like this whole movie hints at the failure of the development of China. The teacher, at one point, asked "Why is it important for children to learn to dress themselves?", and the children's reply (which was a satisfactory answer for the teacher) was "Little children have to learn how to dress themselves". Like the society says something, and nobody questions but naturally accept that they "have to"/ "it is a must". Grown-ups are like little children who dun ask.

The movie uses lots of "irony" as literature tool. Like the teacher lectures that "girls cannot show boys their butts" (qiang was playing a doc-give-injection role play game), yet boys and girls can sleep beside each other without their clothes on. (i think half the time the boys are always not clothed from below the waist). The teacher also teaches that "children have to learn how to cloth themselves", yet the clothes the sch provides are all torn with huge holes that don't cover up the body - which is almost as bad as not wearing pants.

The little red flower that is rewarded to good behaving children represents praise and acknowledgement from the society (the sch, in this case). Qiang is willing to conform and try to poop at the correct time, learn to clothe himself up (but fails of cos), in his attempts to receive some little red flowers too. But the movie ends after Qiang saw the band street performance. Chinese bands in the past wears simple one-color clothes wif a big red flower in front of their chest (like the bands older days chinese weddings). It seems like suddnely Qiang saw that his vision was so narrow. He thought the little red flower is beautiful, but then he realises that there are bigger and more beautiful red flowers around that he has not yet seen.

And the final scene seemed abrupt initially, like it could continue as a drama serials after this. (haa!) Before the final scene, there was a lot of action, the boy was running, the music in the background was very happening, he saw the street performance, whose performance was very loud.. but Qiang suddenly lay himself down and fell asleep on top a of rock out the sch after the band passed by him. den suddenly, but almost not drastically, everything became quiet with only the shouts of the pple behind the wall. But this is actually a very meaningful ending. I feel, that the director wants to show that Qiang is tired from both rebelling and conforming. He realises his hard-earned little red flower is so little and uncomparable, and it's not worth his efforts to go after. He decides that inside the walls are not the things he like, therefore he rather take his rest outside the walls. and the teacher and children inside the walls who were looking for him, were still shouting out for him because inside the walls, nothing changes and no one thinks anything will change.

This movie makes me a little sad for China in some ways. I dunno wat is this system/standard that Zhang Yuan is trying to criticize, but it's very clear to me, that there's a lot of irony and narrow-minded-ness being told. The society calls out "clothe urselves", yet the clothes they provide do not cover up - don't that saddens you?

For those who wanna watch and have your own other interpretation, go ahead! it's a very good film really. The way it was directed, the acting, the script... all very engjoyable!!

    Weekend has come!
    Sunday, October 01, 2006 0 comments

Y'day went to for the QBC outreach... went door to door to the block near church... to invite the residents to join our lantern festival event next week and distribute flyers to them... Quite fun!! And funny.. cos u can actually see the peep-hole was initially bright, den it gets dark becos the resident is looking thru the peep-hole at whoever's knocking... den many times the hole gets dark for very long, but juz dun wanna open the door, like the person behind is analysing me - "is she salesperson/ suryvor/ selling vitagen/ etc.." haa.. den some analyse very long, juz dun wanna open door, i know i failed their analysis.. ha...!

den went to picturehouse to catch a movie... we juz wanna stay out late so anything lor.. randomly chose "Little red flower" to watch... very nice movie!! talk abt tat another time, cos i can talk very long.. haa.. i was a literature student afterall!! :) BUT... one thing i tot was rather silly is the picturehouse itself.. it's abt movies appreciation, not enjoyment.. so u are supposed to be juz watching the movie and appreciating it.. SO.. cannot eat popcorn or drink coke one.. but i LOVE my movies with popcorn!! so was like only 3/4 satisfied.. hee..

went home and found tat my nose is full of blackheads.. so i squeezed hard (i shldn't hv, but i did! hehh...) and got some out!! but half my nose became very red... and remained red the next day.. den went wif billy to buy his Chocolate mobile... and while i was lookin at the windown display of phones.. haaa... my bumped my nose into the window screen! Ouch!

So this nite, i pore-packed my nose.. no more funny ideas..
